Editorial Standards
Editorial Standards
These are the rules the CarsEVs editorial team follows to keep our coverage accurate, sourced, and useful. They apply to every article we publish, every newsletter we send, and every correction we issue.
1. Sources
Every factual claim in an article must be traceable to a primary or named secondary source. We cite those sources directly in the article (a Source: line below the body, linking to the original report). Acceptable sources include:
- Manufacturer press releases, investor filings, and product pages
- Chinese regulatory bodies (MIIT, China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the State Council)
- Reputable trade press (CnEVPost, 36Kr, IT之家, 汽车之家) when the original report is paywalled or restricted
- Verified first-party social-media posts from executives or official brand accounts
We do not publish unsourced rumours or speculation presented as fact.
2. The AI-Assisted Workflow (Disclosure)
Our editorial workflow uses AI to assist with research and first-draft writing. Every article is then reviewed and approved by a human editor before publication. This is disclosed in two places on every article:
- An AI-assisted · human-reviewed badge in the byline
- An About the author block at the end of the article, naming the human editor and summarising their background
Articles are not auto-published. The human-review step is mandatory, and the editor's name is recorded in the editorial system for every article.
3. Independence and Conflicts of Interest
CarsEVs does not accept payment for editorial coverage. We do not host paid reviews, and we do not allow commercial relationships to influence what we publish. If we ever accept sponsored content, it will be:
- Labelled Sponsored at the top of the article, in the title, and in the meta description
- Excluded from the homepage carousel, the trending rail, and the related-article feeds
- Clearly separated from the editorial feed in the sitemap and RSS
Our writers and editors are required to disclose any financial interest (holdings, consulting, gifts) in companies they cover, and the editor-in-chief reviews those disclosures quarterly.
4. Corrections
If we get something wrong, we correct it quickly and visibly. Material corrections are:
- Applied directly to the article (the change is recorded in the article's Last updated line)
- Highlighted in a Correction note at the bottom of the article when the fix is material
- Listed on this page below when the correction affects a previous published claim
You can report a correction by emailing corrections@carsevs.com with the article URL and the source that contradicts our reporting.
5. Images and Copyright
Featured images on CarsEVs are either licensed from the source publication, released into the public domain by the original publisher, or generated by our team for editorial illustration. We do not scrape copyrighted images from third-party sites.
6. Sponsored Links and Advertising
CarsEVs displays contextual advertising served by Google AdSense on some pages. Sponsored links, if shown, are clearly differentiated from editorial content. The presence or absence of advertising never affects what we publish, and advertisers do not see our coverage before it is published.
