BYD's Denza brand has introduced the N8L battery electric vehicle (BEV), a new all-electric offering that expands the label's powertrain options beyond its existing plug-in hybrid lineup.

The N8L BEV starts at approx. $44,280 (299,800 yuan in the China market). BYD has listed a CLTC-certified driving range of 960 km, making it one of the longer-range BEVs on the Chinese market.

The launch marks a significant expansion for Denza. Until now, the brand had been limited to plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models, most notably the Denza D9 MPV. The addition of the N8L BEV signals Denza's push into pure-electric territory, targeting buyers looking for zero-emission SUVs without range anxiety.

Expanding the Denza portfolio

BYD has been rapidly growing its premium sub-brand Denza since its restructuring, and the N8L BEV is the next step in that strategy. The brand now offers both PHEV and BEV options, competing directly with rivals like XPENG and Li Auto in the electric SUV segment.

The N8L joins an increasingly crowded field of long-range Chinese BEVs, including competitors from NIO, XPENG, and Zeekr, all of whom have been pushing range boundaries with newer 800V high-voltage platforms and advanced battery chemistries.
