Chery and Jaguar Land Rover have opened pre-sales for the Freelander 8, the pair's first model under the revived Freelander nameplate, with the launch set for September 3.

The Freelander 8's pre-sales price after incentives starts at 329,900 yuan (approx. $45,819), according to information released by the two companies. Official pricing will be announced at the launch event on September 3.

The Freelander name has deep roots in JLR's history, originally introduced on the Range Rover in the 1990s before becoming a standalone model. Chery acquired the rights to use the Freelander brand in China through its joint venture with JLR, marking a fresh entry into the Chinese new-energy vehicle (NEV) market with this model.

As one of the first products from the Chery-JLR NEV collaboration, the Freelander 8 is expected to position itself in the competitive mid-to-large SUV segment, where Chinese brands such as Li Auto, AITO, and Xpeng have been intensifying their offerings.

Details on battery capacity, range, and powertrain specifications have not yet been disclosed ahead of the official launch.
