Chinese automaker Huawei's Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) delivered 37,490 vehicles in September, a decline of 29.15% from the same month last year, according to industry reports.
The September figure extends a streak of four consecutive months of year‑on‑year delivery declines for the smart‑vehicle brand. Year‑to‑date growth has also decelerated, falling to just 5.27% as cumulative sales face mounting pressure.
Background on HIMA
HIMA is Huawei's strategic alliance with multiple automakers to develop and sell intelligent New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) under a unified brand. The partnership model allows Huawei to leverage its technological expertise in autonomous driving, connectivity, and smart cockpits while partnering with established car manufacturers for production and distribution.
China's NEV market remains one of the most competitive in the world, with domestic manufacturers such as BYD, NIO, XPENG, and Li Auto leading in volume, while international brands like Tesla continue to exert strong influence. Huawei's entry into the space has drawn attention for its focus on software‑defined vehicles and advanced driver‑assistance systems, aiming to differentiate through technology rather than price alone.
Recent delivery data suggests that consumer demand may be softening, or that production constraints are affecting fulfillment rates. The brand has been attempting to carve out a position in China's fiercely competitive NEV market, where price wars and rapid product cycles are the norm.
While HIMA's overall nine‑month performance remains positive, the narrowing growth rate indicates that the brand's expansion may be transitioning from a rapid‑growth phase to a more mature stage. With several new model launches anticipated in the coming quarters, industry observers will be watching closely to see whether Huawei can reverse the recent downward trend in monthly deliveries.
