Li Auto has shared new details about the i9, its second-generation pure-electric flagship SUV that the company says marks three strategic milestones: a successful dual powertrain lineup spanning both range-extended (EREV) and pure-electric vehicles, deployment of four major self-developed technologies, and a distinct product philosophy tailored specifically for electric platforms.
Li Auto CEO Li Xiang stated that the i9 demonstrates the company can develop EREV and BEV vehicles in parallel, supported by its 5C ultra-fast charging network. The SUV serves as the first vehicle on the brand's second pure-electric platform to carry forward the company's self-developed battery, motor, Mach M100 smart-driving chip, and autonomous-driving model.
The i9 achieves a drag coefficient of just 0.215 — claimed to be the lowest among all mass-produced SUVs globally. Li Auto says this was accomplished without sacrificing interior space, handling, visibility, or cabin comfort.
Design and Dimensions
The i9 carries forward the family design language introduced with the i-series. Key exterior features include a steeper A-pillar angle, a two-tone paint option, and a signature ring-shaped daytime running light positioned at the base of the front windshield. The actual headlamps are set into the lower front bumper, giving the car a distinctive face.

The SUV is equipped with quad LiDAR sensors mounted on the roof and a new semi-hidden door handle design, supporting advanced driver-assistance capabilities powered by the self-developed Mach M100 smart-driving chip.
In terms of dimensions, the i9 measures 5,225 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,752 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,168 mm. Compared to the i8, the i9 gains 140 mm in length and 118 mm in wheelbase.
The rear retains a full-width taillight bar with the license plate recessed into the tailgate for a clean, composed look.
Interior and Powertrain
Inside, the cabin uses a home-oriented, premium materials approach with diamond-quilted leather seats, soft ambient lighting, and expansive side windows for strong natural light and open visibility. Rotating second-row seats allow the rear cabin to convert into a flat sleeping area across rows two and three.
Under the hood, the i9 uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup: a 150-kW front motor paired with a 250-kW rear motor. Battery options come from CATL and Sunwoda, using ternary lithium cells. Top speed is rated at 200 km/h, with CLTC pure-electric range of either 680 km or 705 km depending on the trim.
