MG has reported that its new all-electric MG 07 fastback has attracted more than 42,000 locked-in orders within 20 days of its market launch on August 21.

Promotional pricing for the MG 07 starts at 105,900 yuan (approx. $14,708), a competitive entry point in China's crowded mid-size EV sedan segment dominated by rivals such as XPENG, Zeekr, and BYD.

Fast Start for MG's Electric Sedan

The speed at which the MG 07 accumulated over 42,000 orders signals strong consumer interest in MG's latest electric offering. Locked-in orders typically indicate buyers who have completed a purchase deposit, giving the automaker a more predictable view of near-term delivery volumes than tentative reservations.

MG, long known in China as a heritage brand now owned by SAIC Motor, has been pivoting aggressively toward new-energy vehicles. The MG 07 positions the marque in the performance-oriented fastback segment, a niche that has seen growing popularity among younger Chinese EV buyers.

With pricing beginning below 110,000 yuan, the MG 07 undercuts many competitors in its class, a strategy that aligns with the ongoing price war in China's NEV market. Industry analysts note that aggressive pricing has become a standard tool for volume growth among both domestic and foreign brands competing in China.

SAIC Motor will be closely watching whether the initial order momentum translates into sustained monthly deliveries as production ramps up. The company has not yet disclosed detailed battery specifications, range figures, or performance data for the MG 07.
