Launch Details
Great Wall Motor announced on August 14, 2026, the official market launch of the WEY V8X, a mid-size five-seat plug-in hybrid SUV. The vehicle is offered in five trim levels with an official guide price of 239,800–315,800 RMB, translating to approximately $33,306 to $43,861. A limited-time promotional price of 226,800–302,800 RMB (approx. $31,500 to $42,056) is available for early buyers.
Two body styles are offered — a luxury family version and a sport version — both powered by Great Wall's Super Hi4 plug-in hybrid system.
Powertrain and Range
The V8X comes with two engine choices. The 1.5T variant produces 125 kW and pairs with electric motors rated at 320 kW or 330 kW, yielding combined system outputs of 440 kW and 450 kW respectively. CLTC pure-electric ranges for these trims are 261 km, 258 km, and 402 km.
The more powerful 2.0T engine delivers 175 kW, paired with 330 kW or 340 kW electric motors for combined outputs of 500 kW and 510 kW. CLTC pure-electric range for the 2.0T models reaches 324 km and 402 km.
Design and Interior
Exterior styling features a continuous star-ring LED daytime running light with a flowing illumination effect. A floating 3D badge on the hood draws inspiration from the flagpole of the Zhili Governor's Office in Baoding, where Great Wall is headquartered. The sport version adds black front and rear bumper accents and 21-inch forged wheels with red brake calipers, while the luxury family edition gets 21-inch multi-spoke alloys. Traditional mechanical door handles are retained for reliability in winter conditions.
Inside, the V8X uses a multi-screen cockpit with a 17.3-inch floating central display and a matching 17.3-inch passenger entertainment screen, complemented by a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 29-inch HUD. The five-seat layout provides over 40 storage compartments and a 864-liter boot capacity.
Intelligent Driving
A LiDAR unit is standard on the roof across all trims. The V8X supports full-scenario NOA (navigation on autopilot) assisted driving, including parking space to parking space navigation. Voice commands can control acceleration, lane changes, turns, and parking maneuvers through the Xiao Wei Tongxue intelligent agents for both cockpit and driving functions.
