Xiaomi Auto has officially launched the Sky Nomad (Tianye) SUV lineup, marking the company's formal entry into the range-extended electric vehicle (EREV) segment.

The new model lineup starts at 209,900 yuan (approx. $29,153). Xiaomi says the Sky Nomad series will be a key contributor to its target of 550,000 vehicle deliveries this year.

The move into EREVs represents a significant diversification for Xiaomi Auto, which previously launched with the Xiaomi SU7 — a pure electric sedan. The Sky Nomad SUVs broaden the brand's product portfolio and position Xiaomi to compete in one of China's fastest-growing NEV segments, where EREV models have seen rapid sales growth in recent months.

Range-extended electric vehicles combine a battery-electric powertrain with an onboard gasoline generator that acts as a range extender, eliminating range anxiety while retaining the driving characteristics of a pure EV. The segment has attracted intense competition from Chinese brands including Li Auto, AITO, and Leapmotor.

With the Sky Nomad launch, Xiaomi Auto now offers both BEV and EREV options across sedan and SUV body styles, giving the brand a wider addressable market as it scales production and strives to meet its aggressive delivery targets.
