Audi E7X Debuts First OTA Update with Expanded Smart Features

Shanghai — Audi has rolled out the first over-the-air update for the E7X electric sedan, introducing AUDI OS 2.1.4 across a range of smart driving, comfort and infotainment features.

The upgrade can be installed through the vehicle's in-vehicle infotainment system or via the SAIC Audi app and touches several key areas of the ownership experience.

Voice and Connectivity

The most notable addition is Voice Activity Detection, which intelligently recognises when a user pauses while speaking and automatically determines the endpoint of a voice command. Audi says this resolves earlier issues with lagging or incomplete command recognition across navigation, media and vehicle control functions.

The system also refines its voice output to better match different driving contexts and supports emotional interactive responses, making casual conversation feel more natural.

Air Suspension Optimisation

For E7X models equipped with air suspension, the OTA refines the speed-triggered lowering logic in both Eco and Super Eco driving modes. The system now more accurately identifies driving scenarios to prevent the suspension from rising quickly after brief speed reductions at highway velocities — a situation that increases aerodynamic drag and reduces range.

Conversely, the trigger conditions for lowering the suspension have been loosened, allowing the vehicle to reach its low-rider profile faster during sustained high-speed cruising.

Driving Assistance and Controls

Drivers can now adjust the ADAS notification volume directly through voice commands, simplifying an operation that previously required navigating through menus. The assistance system interface has also been reorganised into four clear categories: driving assistance, active safety, parking assistance and enhanced alerts.

Comfort and Safety

The update adds adjustable zero-gravity seat recline angles for the four-seat rear configuration and the high-spec front passenger seat, controllable via physical buttons. A corresponding reminder system now alerts users when the seat is tilted to a large angle, balancing comfort with in-motion safety.

A low blue-light screen protection mode has been added across the centre console, front passenger and rear displays to reduce eye strain during long journeys.

Exterior lighting gains two new functions on higher-trim E7X models. When a door is opened and the vehicle detects fast-moving traffic or pedestrians on the same side, a flowing light sequence serves as a visual warning to help prevent dooring incidents. Air suspension adjustments are now accompanied by a matching light animation, adding a ceremonial touch to the operation.

The update also introduces 12 animated Audi assistant themes, viewable during events such as first entry after the OTA, arrival at a navigation destination, music switches and seat massage activation.

Pricing and Availability

The Audi E7X's promotional pricing has entered the approx. $34,722 range (China market around 250,000 RMB). SAIC Audi is currently offering a limited-time purchase incentive package that includes a lifetime vehicle warranty and complimentary entertainment data for existing and new owners, along with subsidies for trade-in purchases.
