BYD's Fangchengbao sub-brand has unveiled a long-range variant of the Tai 7 DM, increasing the traction battery from 35.6 kWh to 50 kWh and extending pure-electric range beyond 300 km.

The Tai 7 DM long-range version starts at approx. $28,830 (China market 195,800 RMB). The 14.4 kWh battery upgrade represents a roughly 40 percent increase in capacity over the standard version, which will be reflected in noticeably longer electric-only cruising between charges.

The Tai 7 DM plugs into Fangchengbao's broader lineup of off-road-oriented EREV models. By offering a substantially larger battery, BYD is aiming to reduce range anxiety for buyers who rely heavily on electric driving in daily use while retaining the extended total range that a range-extender powertrain provides on longer trips.

Fangchengbao — formerly known as Lieying — has been expanding its model range rapidly since spinning out from BYD's main brand. The sub-brand targets rugged, adventure-focused buyers and positions itself against both domestic rivals and traditional off-road vehicles with electrified powertrains.

BYD continues to push the boundary between EV and EREV categories with the Tai 7 DM long-range version, offering near-EV daily usability without the charging-frequency constraints of a pure battery-electric vehicle.
