IM Motors has kicked off pre-sales for its new LS6 all-electric SUV, positioning the vehicle to compete directly with the Tesla Model Y in China's fiercely contested mid-size EV segment.
The LS6 will initially be offered in three battery-electric trims, with pricing starting at 209,900 yuan (approx. $29,150). The top-tier version claims a CLTC range of up to 782 km, making it one of the longer-range options in its price bracket.
The LS6 is built on SAIC Motor's proprietary STELART platform, which incorporates an 800V high-voltage architecture for faster charging capability. The refresh includes updated exterior styling, revised interior materials, and upgraded smart-cockpit features powered by Qualcomm chipsets.
IM Motors — a joint venture between SAIC Motor and Huawei — has been pushing harder to capture market share from Tesla since the Model Y began dominating China's electric SUV sales charts. The new LS6's aggressive pricing and extended range are designed to lure buyers who were considering the Model Y.
Pre-orders are now open, with official deliveries expected to begin later this year. Full specifications and trim details will be unveiled as the launch date approaches.
