China's China Automobile Dealers Association, together with appraisal firm Jingzhen Gu, released its August 2026 automotive residual value report, naming the ONVO L90 as the top-residual-value new-energy large SUV over a one-year ownership period at 78%. The EV outperformed key rivals including the AITO M8, AITO M9, and Li Auto L9.
Launched by NIO's mass-market sub-brand ONVO, the L90 has delivered more than 60,000 units since its market launch, maintaining a strong position in the 300,000-RMB large SUV segment while securing both sales volume and resale value leadership.
The L90 is built on NIO's third-generation pure-electric architecture and comes standard with an 85 kWh battery pack. The rear-wheel-drive version achieves a CLTC-rated range of 600 km, supports three-minute ultra-fast battery swaps, and is also compatible with fast-charging replenishment.
Battery-as-a-Service Drives Resale Value
Industry analysts point to ONVO's battery-as-a-service (BaaS) model as a key factor behind the L90's strong residual value. The separate management of battery assets means each battery swap includes a health inspection, effectively sidestepping the depreciation concerns that typically weigh on used EV pricing. This approach shifts the traditional residual-value assessment logic for pure-electric vehicles.
The L90 offers two purchasing paths: a full-vehicle version starting at approx. $36,917 (China market 265,800 RMB), and a BaaS version starting at approx. $24,972 (China market 179,800 RMB), where the battery is leased separately.
On the hardware front, the L90 is equipped with the Shenji NX9031 automotive-grade smart-driving chip. Air suspension comes standard across the lineup, and buyers can choose between six-seat and seven-seat configurations.
Analysts note that the combination of a mature battery-swap network, solid vehicle technology, and large-scale service support has strengthened the L90's acceptance in the pre-owned market — a rare achievement for a relatively new Chinese EV model.
ONVO said it will continue iterating the product and service experience, expanding its battery-swap charging network and further optimizing the family-oriented travel experience.
