Changan and Huawei sign strategic AI cooperation pact
China's Changan Automobile and Huawei have signed a strategic framework agreement covering AI, large language models, digital energy, and talent development to deepen ICT-automotive integration.
China South Industries Group Corporation (Changan Automobile) and Huawei have signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement, according to the company released on August 12.
Cooperation scope
Under the agreement, the two sides will explore collaboration across several areas:
- AI products and application scenarios
- General-purpose and automotive vertical large language models
- Digital infrastructure and computing power
- Hardware and software integration
- Digital energy solutions
- International expansion
- Digital-intelligent talent planning and training
The parties said the goal is to advance deep integration and innovative development between the automotive industry and information and communications technology (ICT).
Senior leadership present
Zhu Huarong, party secretary and chairman of Changan Automobile, and Xu Zhijun, deputy chairman and rotating chairman of Huawei, attended and witnessed the signing ceremony. Zhao Fei, general manager and deputy party secretary of Changan, along with executives Deng Wei and Deng Yueming, also took part.
The agreement was signed on behalf of Changan by Zhang Yigang, deputy general manager of the strategic development department, and on behalf of Huawei by Su Liang, general manager of Huawei's Chongqing branch.
Industry context
Changan's partnership with Huawei builds on an existing relationship. The automaker has previously integrated Huawei's Kirin car chips and intelligent driving solutions into its models, while Huawei has also supplied smart cockpit systems to Changan's Avatr and Deepal brands. This new framework broadens the scope into AI model development and digital energy, signaling both companies' intent to deepen collaboration beyond hardware supply.
