New-Gen BMW iX3 Expected to Enter China at Under $42,000
Channel reports suggest the Neue Klasse-based BMW iX3 long-wheelbase will launch in China at roughly 280,000–300,000 RMB, targeting the competitive 300,000-RMB-class EV SUV segment against Tesla Model Y, Xiaomi YU7, and Audi Q6L e-tron.

Chinese channel reports indicate the next-generation BMW iX3 long-wheelbase will arrive in China priced around 280,000 to just over 300,000 RMB — a dramatic step down from the current model's 400,000-RMB-plus positioning.
At approximately $38,889 to $41,667 (280,000–300,000 RMB), the new iX3 would enter the most crowded segment of China's EV SUV market, directly challenging the Tesla Model Y, Xiaomi YU7, and Audi Q6L e-tron. BMW China has not yet confirmed an official price as of mid-August 2026.
Why the Price Shift Is Significant
The new-gen iX3 is not a facelift of the outgoing model. Built on BMW's Neue Klasse architecture with sixth-generation eDrive technology, it represents a complete platform, powertrain, and electronics overhaul. The Chinese-spec version features a dedicated long-wheelbase layout with a 3,005 mm wheelbase, tailored specifically for rear-seat space and comfort — a key expectation from Chinese buyers.
Key Specifications
- CLTC range: over 900 km
- 800V high-voltage architecture
- Peak DC fast-charging power: 400 kW
- 10% to 80% charge in approximately 21 minutes
- 10-minute charge adds over 400 km CLTC range
- Wheelbase: 3,005 mm (Chinese long-wheelbase version)
Competitive Landscape
If the channel reports hold, the iX3's competitiveness shifts from "a BMW at 300,000 RMB" to "a next-generation BMW EV platform with 900 km range, 800V fast charging, and long-wheelbase space at 300,000 RMB." That changes the equation considerably for buyers who previously ruled out the iX3 on price alone.
Its nearest rivals in that price band include the Tesla Model Y, praised for its software maturity and Supercharger network; the Xiaomi YU7, which emphasizes smart ecosystem integration and configuration density; and the Audi Q6L e-tron, another luxury-brand newcomer on a similar next-gen platform.
When to Expect Official Details
BMW has not yet released an official launch date, final pricing, or trim-level breakdown for the Chinese market. Interested buyers are advised to wait for BMW China's formal announcement before making purchase decisions, as insurance, local incentives, and launch-period promotions could further affect the out-the-door cost.
